He was sitting on the corner
cigarette dangling from dry lip
whiskey bottle by his side
finger teasing music from that old guitar.
She whispered hey as she walked by
on the stroll, her "buy me" clothes barely there.

The music and his eyes in a
riff down her back
just like his fingers on the neck
of that guitar
hey

His music touched a part of her
she never felt before and
her voice found the words to a
song she never knew...and she sang

For that moment they weren't a
down on his luck musician
and a sad eyed lady of the night
and together they were more
than they ever were apart.

For in that moment he was Bruce
he was Jimi
  he was Willie
    he was Kris
And in that moment she was Gracie
she was Janis
  she was Dolly
    she was Reba
And they were more

Then his fingers ceased to strum
and her sweet voice died away
and he lifted the whiskey bottle
and watched as a car pulled up
and she slipped inside
again he was a has been
and she a lady of the night
on a dirty street corner.

But, oh, in that moment
he was Bruce, he was Jimi, he was Kris
and she was Gracie, she was Janis, she was Dolly
and they were more together
than they ever were apart.

For a moment he was Bruce
she was Gracie
and the music played

Paula

This is great...with the subject matter I'm thinking this is ethome, but I'm not sure.  You did create one of his moods!

Gee, because of the theme only I have to agree with the majority here, and say Ethome.  I loved it by the way!

WOW, what a cool write!

"and together they were more
than they ever were apart."

I guess I'd have to say Eric as well, though there are a couple of others who could write this tune.
You did a great job!

I'm sorry I don't recognize the mask...But you certainly wear it well!

Very nice write, the poet should be honored!

Welcome to the party.
