the sayer told me about stone
and how you would be a pillar
with your back to my window

I believed her early
she knew of the winds of 72
and the black dog with gold eyes

you spoke of the dragon once
how it died in the cove of lonely
but it was just a tattoo

as was the ring on your mind
and your high heels too
when we went to the johnboat

and listened to the cypress hounds
make splinters in the bayou
the man at the gallery says

I shouldn't touch the statyou
that way in public or at all
so I nod and grin my way to mahya's

for another hand rolled habana
and her dark skin bosom smile
when she calls me mens van steen

and brings her fire to my habit
______________

Dark....scribble note...mayha's is a little joint in St Thomas, good rum and hand rolled habanas...she (mahya) is very dark (like the cigars), very dutch, with emerald green eyes...

This is touching a very
lovely place...it is beautiful
even if you can't touch
the statyou.

Your scribble notes helped me to better appreciate and understand your intriguing poem. To read of such beautifully described transgressions, brings smiles...

Very nice.

I enjoyed a place called "The Greenhouse" in St. Thomas (I believe it was spelled different).

I spent most my time there serving officers wine and cheese...

oh what a life.

Ah Dark - Mayha's sounds exotic and the ambiance of this poem intoxicating - I love places that give that feel -  Like Ruby Red's in New Orleans - an atmosphere I shall never forget -

Love this - Hugs - Susan
