I turned old leather binding again
And searched for the lines I wanted

“She was beauty that caused me to
pause far too often and ask why she would care”
It began, as I found the dog-eared page

“it is not the outside, though it entices me
to want her soft in my bed,
but the things she shows inside which make
me wonder why, such a person as this
would look at me with eyes saying
own me”

I closed the book
And tied it again together so that what was inside
Stayed there safe, hidden from me and any who might
Pass it by and decide to read

Then walked to the edge of the river
And thought about how it was
To be so close to someone and know
That there was never a way to hold onto
Those things that like the river
Were bound to flow

Pulling a new book from behind the seat
I began,

“Today, as I touched the part of you
where both pleasure and guilt reside, I knew
there were reasons that your eyes followed mine
and that your soul seemed to draw itself towards me”

“I am still grounded in the stone face of bluff
and the giggled laugh of water on gravel,
some how I can touch and feel the earth
flow through my veins”

I stopped and closed the page

Wondering what words would follow
                 Love

good lord...........
these verses are tattooed on my soul....
have mercy...lordy I love your muse.

Ink runs from the corners of my mouth.
There is no happiness like mine ...
I've been eating poetry.
