meet me at the sand box
quarter past two
bring that big ol’ Tonka Truck
so you can do that thing you do

you’ve got some serious muscle
you know what I mean
and it pumps me up baby
that earth movin’ machine

I’m just a hitch hiker
longing for the ride
pull over by the swing sets
let me jump in by your side

rev it up honey
make that diesel engine roar
poundin’ cross those sand dunes
until a quarter of four

then we’ll dust off our bluejeans
and erase our trail sewn tracks
and take that big ol’ Tonka Truck
in for a deluxe wash and wax

If this IS part of Wranx' challenge, I would go with Toe, as well. But if this is Susan and her heavy equipment, you just whisked me back to childhood days...and I loved it!

Oh I miss those so much (the trucks I mean.) With sugar and spice grand(girls,) I have to play all that girly stuff. Very, very cute, and if it is metaphorical - I liked the read I got out of that too Susan, as there is nothing like a reved up motor is there

If this is for the challenge - ditto - it's that rascal Toe or maybe, that devilish PoetdeVine.

No, not the challenge -

Just an idea that popped into my head while talking to a friend -

And Mysteria - yes - it most definitely is metaphorical - you know boys and their Tonkas

But as far as girls go, my brother bought my daughter her first earth movin dump truck at the age of 2 - ever since she gets a nice blend of nail polish and scraped knees -

Thanks ladies - hugs - Susan

It's been my experience that most boys think their Tonkas are bigger and better than they really are...

I enjoyed...

ms susan..

hey..this is a naughty poem..I think I want you..(grin)

I had a tonka when I was a kid
did some serious construction in the sand box
then I found the source of tootsie rolls one day and started reusing the wrappers and selling them to the little kids

that was before I got into drug dealing and un-organized rhyme

Thank you all - I'm happy you enjoyed my humor-

Yes Susan - you speak truth - side's the size of the Tonka doesn't really matter - it's how much earth they can move

Sy and Dark - you two crack me up - randy tonkas and un-organized rhymes - hehe

Hugs all - Susan

True...I have seen little tonkas cause an earthquake and big ones act like its a race...

You just never know what Tonka is going to bring the most pleasure to play with.

When my son was a babe he sure did love his Tonka toys. Now that he is grown he has larger toys....Snowmobile, motorcyle, trucks

This brought back memories.
