Dog tags sway
In finger clenched grip

Boots stand empty

Eye rivers run dry

Only bits and pieces
Boxed
Vestiges of a man

Boy really

Torn from living
Dream shattered reality
Scattered

Shards piercing heart
Pricking blood
From bruised knee prayers

Liberty paid for
In red remuneration

Bounty paid
In sandstone trade

Somebody’s someone
Sacrifice made

Only words left
Faded blue ink
Etched upon virtue

Held in trembles

Of left behind sorrow

Happiness isn't something that happens to you, it's created from within you.  Joy is a state of mind.

The sad reality,  continues each day somewhere
across the land.  Few places left untouched
by the pursuit of freedom...

Yes,  very sad for so many who have lost
in our attempt to gain.

Thank you - wish I could post with graphics- I've a special creation I made to go with this- , but alas -

My sister had a call the other day from her son in Iraq - don't know, got me to thinking.  And of the wars past - my life is too filled with the history and the influence of such -

Ah well - still, visions come and this was one -

Hugs all -  Susan
