Listening to every heart

“You’re Too Old”

I almost accepted it,
the fact of age,
a graying at temples,

Even though I welcome
my laugh-line crinkles,
I almost bought the line…

And almost ready to capitulate,
to leave behind
my dreams, to just plan
on putting one foot ahead
of the other, and
plod on…

It was then that fate played
a little miracle of rebirth,
renewing hope
in a moment's sighting…

So when I found myself
willingly, gladly alone
to think and find myself again,
to search my soul
for new answers and solutions,
I took in my view…

and found that I could dream,
that there are castles on hills,
and white knights come to those
who feel young, in dreams…

I will never again believe
that I am too old to dream.

Karilea - if I whisper, will you listen?  Keeping in mind, I must stand close...

ms sunshine
they say age is in the mind
and so are dreams
guess we just have to decide
which one we will believe?

Karilea,
Excellent write. If only I were too young to understand.

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.

Beautiful dose of "sunshine" on this cloudy day.

Forever young, the timelessness of our dreams.

Muscle, blood and bone
Show those things our own.
Thoughts, ideas and hope
Help us always cope.

A great blend of pix and writing.  Ken

What the hell has age to do with it.

Some are old at 18 - others young at 80.

I'm oft to Ghana at 57 and the Project Manager is 57 and I feel better now than I did at 40, if only I could stop people's mentality that being old has to do with age.

It doesn't since the screws you get are a factor of ability, thought, determination and that often they have something to prove.

I dont have to prove anything - I just watch the Government destroy my pension, my income and tell me that essentially they have squandered all I worked for, for their own political gains and they come out wealthy, whilst we come out poor.

You're never to old to dream. Keep dreaming my sunshinygirl.

That's only one part of your dreaming.

Old is but a word,  as in "Old English"...
and yet...sometimes, but not all...old does
feel so much part of who I FEEL...But,  I
do agree...it is in one's mind,  always has
been...and the spring of our step is not
necessarily governed by our age,  but oft
from our vitality,  our belief in self.

I believe you are far from old...and yes,
still a very attractive woman...and I
know there are others who share my view.
They speak loudly of what you say...

They tell me I'm too young for everything...
but then, I'm old in my dreams.
I don't mean to be, though. Honest.
Seems we all must tread our own path
if we choose the road less travelled

You made me smile.

I am surrounded daily by people on the cusp of 20.  They are so very smart, some even trying to become intelligent.  To them I am furniture, a device that perhaps though perhaps useful, belongs in a museum or a trash heap.  I look at them, see their insecurities, listen to their certainties and think, "My god, they are so young, how will they ever survive."

My belief is that if you think old ~ you are old! ~ and if you think young ~ you are young!

And you just grew younger with this wonderful write!

You are all wonderful!
Thank you so much
for the added insights,
and for the knowledge
that one is never too old
to learn ... anything!
