Almost You

~

Sausalito wasn’t such a bad place
until you moved.

Then the streets were lonely,
barren places,
cold with the act of living.

Phoenix was next,
and I followed you there,
only to lose you again.

You called me from Austin
said I just had to come.

And we loved one another there.
Beneath the stars
and the sun.

But it too,
grew cold
when you were gone.

I heard you were in New Orleans,
missing me,
Biloxi, all over Alabama,
Georgia, and Florida too,
always expecting me,
knowing I’d come.

But She’s almost you.

Without the miles of leaving,
the phone calls wishing I was there,
the doors closing without opening again.

Almost. . . you.

I hear you’re in Memphis.
Crying over me.

Almost . . . I said.

Almost.

You.

Fabulous, James!  I loved it.

I haven't been here for awhile but it is always nice to see your warm, smiling face.

Take care........Sue

I couldn't shake Nancy Sinatra's "My Elusive Dreams" through the first half of this read.

Like the ending.
