Nights I fashion
in a raiment of dust,
braided from drumskins
drawn taut against the soul,
the insatiable mauling clocks
cease their mothlike songs,
and longing, the cock
has at last hung
its iridescent chant
out to dry in the sun,
gunmetal casks of dreams
hum over the hollows of eternity,
and the electric metaphor
of your hands, quivering
as the rain pours forth
its bloodthirsty transparency
grows thick in the dark body,
beating the shrouded heart
milks dahlia through its grating doubt,
wading the depths of lucid mirrors,
the subtle shape of breasts, elicit
those secret sugars I harbor
inbetween the drumskin of the clavicle
as it beats pink nectar from the quicksilver
fountains of desire, you have no use for,
score the cocks fury, heavy
in the core organ canes of sugar
and delirium char the soul
in a catechism of bronze,
nights I fashion
from drumskins drawn taut,
spasm over the eyes as I bind
them inside of the whispers
and insomniac flowers of hyacinth
in whose solemn flesh I'd reach
a measure of forgetfulness,
braided from this long, empty
raiment of dust.

How can I respond to this but to say. BRAVO! You left me speechless...and that doesn't happen often.

Remember, if you're not part of the future, you're history!

just sitting here with my jaw dropped, as usual
sheesh . . .

I DO envy your gift, in a most honorable fashion.

From the shadows of silence from one come the echoes of a thousand in furry.

Very much loved the read and the way the images of emotion changed from light to dark and back in this piece.

ohh, and a DANG as well.

the emotions reign in strong with the use of the drumstick/beat metaphors, and I think its good you returned to this image several times...this is good stuff.

In the desert
I saw a creature, naked, bestial,
who, squatting upon the ground,
Held his heart in his hands,
And ate of it.
I said, "Is it good, friend?"
"It is bitter -- bitter," he answered;
"But I like it
Because it is bitter,
And because it is my heart."
