It’s been a long night
I’ve danced with genies
On galleons of blue crested salt
Blood dripping onto ropes
To send a sacrifice to the seas
And tender hands
Will old salts become

I’ve filled myself with rum
On an off-watch
To dream of odds
And songs, stories, voices
To a life
Of men I turn my back on
And trust

With thoughts and dreams
Yet I am still unfulfilled
In my hammock
Swaying in the words and wisdom
Of old salts
And watch
As the watch on a dog watch

I see a start of red
My mouth I always dread
And now my life
Kisses what I fear
Tied for my thoughts
The world is my orb
As I wish it to be

Kissing the world
With movement
Of dreams
Of a day
When dawn
Calls me
Away from tiredness

Then what of my dreams
My day has dawned
My spirit soars
To fly
Where no man
Can fly
To see this day

Dave,
"It" is superb! in my mind.  Your thoughts hold such depth and perception.  I could read on of your poems thirty times and still finding more meaning each time.

   And this?  I comprehend!  Enjoyed.

Then what of my dreams
My day has dawned
My spirit soars
To fly
Where no man
Can fly
To see this day

miscellanea

What else do I say but thanks for your words.

This one just came at the keyboard and I have no idea from where.

It wrote itself.

Thanks - I suppose I write images.   I can see and feel sea and swing in the hammock as the ship rolls.

Thanks Lee.

I'll have to see what Ghana can write for me.

It was the Gold Coast with slavery and forts and a history of countries trying to win it.

Looks like I will be there unless there are problems, for 4 to 5 months.

Dave
