You danced too young on leafs that burned
Bright from the whisper of some words
Wind spoke in hushed undertones
making them blush in gold
   then red

   And you

reach for woolen wrap
To cover shoulders
I had seen bare in moonlight
    That still freckled by sun
   Were stark against the shadows

Much sooner
    We aged

And season’s passing became the time
That by this knee of water
Bent as it is into a cove
                   Reason passed no test
Our minds did not excuse
As the lust of life
Or the quest along the skin of shore
We wished to consume with slow chewing strides
Or be consumed by as our last strewn path
Carried flooding red from limb to stone

This year the colors fade in lack luster measure
One of one of one they loosen from the limb
And tumble in their own
                         Pirouette of cold fire

While I am still

                       The quiet kind

Remembering how it was
   Once upon
                          A time

the leaves play beneath our feet
teasing us as another autumn rushes
by, and withers in a bonfire,
we age
from nubile green to royal crimson to
withering ombres
but o when we return, watch out...........

You write poetry on those leaves...

Me thinks the "quiet kind" makes for a damn fine poet.
I knew the seasons change would be pulling at you...I was sure hoping youd let the muse distract ya from work.
Its  just not fall with out your lovely, bittersweet offerings.
Very good to read you groovy guy.

Thanks for the remembrances, and yes, times past do shimmer just under the surface.
The trick is to fish them out

Ron,
The ladies don't swoon for just anybody. A testament to your writing. But I must say it is indeed an excellent write. If only I...naw.

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.

...the quiet kind...
mercy of silence
a reprieve, left to breathe
scented needs

deep beneath

where you and i meet
tongue to tongue

to taste the fire
no matter how cold
it has become

your muted songs
still beg to be sung.....

and we are all listening

yes indeed, and can't help but wonder if...that was our destiny?
To mature at a faster rate then some...
perhaps to our favors?   dunno, but have definately pondered this, and you know something....

I'm not sorry in the least, and I just betcha, neither is she?

Tremendous write

Ron, welcome back. I am not sure that I have the correct words to do this justice.  I'm blown away with this and sir, I am glad that you are a quiet kind that produces such flawless wonders as you do...
