Arch

The imprints of your feet,
Bare…
Reside with me now

Here by the bank
Still embedded,

Pressed deep and filled
With the waters of time

Footfalls, waxen and molded
Clay models of your spirit

Fleeting . . .
And diminishing downstream

I recall the day you stood knee deep
Half-hidden by the rushes

The damsel flies zig- zagging,
Stitching you into the horizon
As you waded

Clamping toes and slipping heels
Around moss and rock;

Leaning here and there
Laughing
And catching yourself

The Sun
Painting you with fingers
In the colors of passion

You lifted your gown.
A flimsy, second-hand raiment
Worn only to satisfy onlookers,

And wound it
Crumpled in your hands
Dripping and superfluous

Turning slightly, flashing the fire
Of that smile

Your eyes
So very alive…

And that
Is where I am this day

Awakened
By splashing footsteps
And the onset of Autumn.

Running my fingers
Along the bottom of your feet
Tracing the textures

Fossilized by the storm.

And before anyone hears otherwise?

This is Susie all over....I merely stuck a word or two on it.

Ed and Susie duet -- each a joy to read, though in very different ways....and together, it's guaranteed to be a treat.

Good lord!
I feel like I've won something!

The wonderful replies are most appreciated. (And, of course, I'll defer them all to Susie. (She did write nearly the whole of it.)).

Yep! It's just like finding a winning ticket someone else paid for. *smile*

Now Wranx...you're supposed to do what I always do...If ya write a poem with another, you should always wait and see how it's accepted...if it's really well taken, then ya say, "Oh yea, that's the part I wrote...if it's not well accepted..ya say: "oh, I told her we shouldn't put that part in?"....and...a littlewing/wranx joint?....where is that grown?...never tried that kind before...always willing though?...and, last but not least...yall done good here...you're both very talented..
