The night stand (yes, a night stand)
rests against that side of the bed
one wine glass half full
while blended thoughts rise to meet me
each evening as darkness
shoulders me in memories.

Words resonate and I accommodate
and bend to your fashion
as I listen to the rain
upon the lower rooftop
reminding me how solitaire is played.

I sometimes think I have lost my mind
in borrowing the remnants of past wishes
that can no longer rescue me
from my non fiction life
that poetic tears have played into,
those many hands of fantasy.

I promised, and I have promised before
(although there is emptiness bleeding from that one)
that I would always be here for you,
waiting
and would never turn my back or
my worst side to you and I haven't.

I have only vacationed myself,
too many losses overwhelming,
too much silence to hold me together
and my leaning against in need
has left me unsteady
and now forgotten...

And I can no longer look into that mirror
with confidence, can no longer
walk through to the other side
and hold onto and feel the rush
of a new day when I now know
the hand I was meant to be dealt...
does not include you.

Only to realize the end would be as the beginning.

We can hold hands in this, because I am right there with you.

your words DO resonate
many of us have felt this way...you write of it the way i wish i could

Never resign yourself to believing that you know what you'll end up with....they say we can have anything we want in life.....just make it happen Alice

thanks for another great read
