She told me
she wasn’t happy with how things turned out
and often wished
she had done some things differently.

She said this as if she were the only one.
I laughed and told her to get in line.

We all have our demons, issues,
unfulfilled needs, secret lusts
and scorching tears.

She told how she had a secret lover.
One she had never touched,
hunger dissipated with words.

I don’t recall ever seeing such a look in someone’s eyes.
A mix of lust, love and longing,
I suppose she would have liked more.

Made me wonder back to a time
where I had secrets of my own
and I was never one to be satisfied by words alone.

I saw the look in my eyes
for a second time
and stepped away from the mirror.

I am so grinning at this, loved the entire poem, and the great ending....

I really love this.

I talk to myself too, but could never put it so eloquently.

Susan

I've had conversations with myself many times...and found out things that were very interesting.  I really enjoyed this and the ending was a surprise.

surprising, but wonderful twist...it helps to talk to our own self sometimes...we'll get to know a lot about her, I mean, ourselves.

Oh, Susan ~ what a right write! I do so know what you mean! Mind you, I actually answer myself! lol

We should all look into the mirror and really take a good look at ourselves ~ what we might see can be quite surprising!
