Perhaps it's the thought of it
Stretching, unending
Across a lifeless-leafless plane
That taints the gold of it,
From minds with long histories;
When memory slips, so do scenes
Of long melted blankets
On as children (winged angels)
They made fair shape,
By their body-weights impress...

I LOVE this...we've had snow already...it melted though.

But as long as winter can be in Canada, that first snow is magical; its kind of like a song, as soon as you hear it, you remember where you were before. So many memories come back, of childhood and friends and Christmases...

I'm looking forward to it - can you tell?

I love ever inch of this, but the center, the crux of your snowfall and these lines below absolutely capture the heart of poetic sense, the heart of my childness:

Delightful!

I too have memories of the magic of snowflakes ... and my joy is still the same as back in childhood ...

Enjoyed this much, dear Ford.

I live in north central Pennsylvania, the winter here is also very long, but I do enjoy the snow and also icefishing..

"childhood and friends and Christmas"
are very beautiful things....

Hi Martie...
Merlin sets the net, I look in and write down what is caught...

Vas
Ah yes, "the heart of childness"
That is the key to enjoying space instead of time, as do most children.
that is the key to the door of "poetic sense"

Thanks Dixie
Awesome is a wonderful compliment...

Margherita
It is a shame that many adults lose the "memories of the magic"
Childhood joy is precious and in my mind essential...

Thank you all for reading and these replies

Oh thank you, thank you, for painting the magic of the coming snow, for i tend to see it as a burden and forget its pleasure and enchantment -

Loved this
