Hideaway

Sleeping warmly 'neath angry violet skies
dreaming a world of my own
the guitar player plays a borrowed tune
and the ragged rain falls on the street
singing in tune with my mind
crying, honey I want your love
but baby why are you so hard on me?
waking dazed at the wheel
crawling into my hideaway
painting the morning with bad coffee
unopened letters on the floor
uninvited pigeons at the window
I'm propped up against the radiator
Blonde On Blonde spinning in the next room
my last cigarette's smoke curls
into a fog around me
reminding me of London, 1961
kissing your gypsy eyes all over
all over, all through the night
when the cold would bite at me
and I'd paint stars on your dress
now I paint scars on my wall
broken ugly poetry no one will see
my face feeling heavy from
the bags under my eyes
the turntable irritating me
but I just slump over my knees
and think about you
and think about us
and cry over you
and lie to myself
about who I am
and I think about you
leave me alone
won't you
leave me alone
the hallway is too big
the sunlight is angry at me
my bed is whispering to me
but I'll just fall away
right here and now

Well, I beg to differ...over and above
there will be many who reads your poetry
and it is sheer beauty...that any human
being would be honored to read and know.

I was swept into the current of your out-pouring of thoughts and feelings.

Very visual ~ and highly expressive.

Sending you a warm, comforting hug,
EA

You have painted a vivid picture of solitude and sorrow in these words.
The images are rich, and your style has added such depth to the content, evoking a spiritual response as I read.
All prayers and blessing.
