Here, the river bends
And I reach, weeping
For something
Someone to hang on to

Erosion leading to smaller places
Leaving tiny traces
Of what use to be
And she mocks me

Knowing the channel remains empty
Save for my battered and bruised soul
Harsh wind and rain taking its toll
She punishes me

I push harder
Hoping for salvation from her wicked waves
Her protruding rocks and blinding heat
She offers no retreat

And I remember you
The coolness of your hand on my back
Leading me from the darkness of fear
Shadow of comfort in your breath
I long to breathe now
Away from swollen sea
Away from the ugly of me

I long for the color of that fall.

Susan, I'm rather speechless...
this is so very moving
and introspective...

gawd, I've missed your words gal...
glad to see them and your smile again!

The greatest beauty on earth, is
found in the hearts of those
who love....

Enjoyed the motion and emotion of this-

Susan

Happiness isn't something that happens to you, it's created from within you.  Joy is a state of mind.

There is only that ugliness within us which we wonder might be there....and that which we know but refuse to see. Once perceived clearly, it becomes something else or ceases to exist at all. I suspect that by the act of writing this poem you have freed yourself, at least in part.

Transcendant. Loved it!

oh Susan, what an incredible write
pure tender you have focused on
and the incredible experiences offered
to us if we allow...life in all it's
classical sound.

Maybe it's time for a drive, look at the leaves, listen to some tunes...
