When was it that we died?
Looking back
it must have begun
on a mountain pass
rolling into Yellowstone
so many years ago

A steady drizzle
ushered in the sodden mood
that would return
to rain on future parades

My formal introduction
to the cold shoulder
marking the birth of your silence

No announcement
no warning
no kiss goodbye
yet the definite beginning
of an end

What's left to blame?

My work, the kids, the bills?

Or was it just a “hormone thing”?
The fated bitch reaction
to the bastard
at the start
of a “Dark Platonic Age”

Reaching out
across this bed of nails
I blame myself
and suffer up no answers

For a spiteful silent tongue
speaks volumes
on the failed diplomacy
of love

Ohhh, I bled this once, too . . .
*nodding*

This one left an ache in my chest.
Powerful writing.
