In the winds of Cherokee song

Dawn's Stretch

As buds of life shadow these branches of time
The spirit of wings caress dawn ... heaven high
Autumn breezes swell against tinged walls of lime
And bare canyons echo in the birth of natures cry

Billowed horizons draped across wildflower sheets
In slow whispers of promise for today's warm bliss
Muted sunflowers smile atop their swaying retreats
Tickled to laughter with nature’s feather touch kiss

Mornings greet lash through crisp curl of embrace
Awakening deafened eyes to this day's sunrise tune
Tangers warble ancient lyrics behind a scarlet face
Lending blush where birth of dawn's tempo is strewn

Honeysuckle sneezes spray across hummingbird path
Gracing lacquered flight to dance in perfumed tease
Sparrows flicker tempo in floundering puddle of bath
In strobes of warming rays dancing to leaves in breeze

One last yawn to clear the song of morning eyes delight
Dawn's stretch complete to the greeting of this days call
The eyelids of midnight are drawn closed and sealed tight
Slumbering in dreams ... naive to the canvas paint of fall

No one here compares when it comes to the use of imagery in writing Mark.

I am in awe of your talent for 'taking us there'

Beautiful sights, sounds and feelings..
a treat for my soul.

I have to agree with Nancy and Linda - you paint with words and the picture is fine art.

What a delightful line! *S* I like this very much, cowboy... I wish I could enjoy dawn like this instead of crawling into the werk monster's lair. *S*

The all of this was a picture for the soul...but this verse particularly held a special meaning for me...I know these ancient lyrics in my blood, and I appreciate that you waited and watched the waking of this beautiful dawn.

Many smiles,
TD

Mark,
You make morning look attractive. I think everytime I'm tempted I'll come back and read this instead. That way I'll get the joy and the sleep time! Very well done. But I still believe if God had meant for me to see the sunrise he would have put it in the middle of the day!

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.

Linda - Thank you so very much for those kind and generous words.  I do appreciate them and you.

Nancy - If I can get you to see, feel, and hear what is in the verse, then I am left feeling that I am succeeding at some level in my writing.  Thank you for always being so kind in your replies.

Susan - Fine art?  Well, I do thank you much for that and your kindness.

Ruth - Call in sick (and tired of sheetrock and glass).  Maybe they will understand. Thank you very much dear suthern gal.  Nice to see your name here.

Margherita - Peaceful is exactly it.  Otherwise I can't imagine me getting up so early.  Thank you very much.

Sy - Did I tell ya that Dawn is my neighbor?  Teasing, and I do thank you much sir.

Maree - If you found it beautiful then I am elated.  Thank you dearly.

TD - And I appreciate that you were able to pull something from this piece that you could hold on to.  I do appreciate your kind words and thank you much.

Martie - Maybe we will someday get to do that morning together on the pier.  Thank you dearly.

Kacy - I am happy you are enjoying and hope you continue to do so.

Larry - But I think he did.  We just happen to set our alarms wrong once and think that night is day and day is night.  Thank you much for the visit.

Did someone say stretch???? heheeee
Ok Ok... just how am I supposed to pick fave lines when ya write with such high inspire??? Its a tough job but somemoths gotta do it..lol

As buds of life shadow these branches of time
========================
perfect opening line...awesome personifi.

Autumn breezes swell against tinged walls of lime
And bare canyons echo in the birth of natures cry

===========================
I love those images...those verses speak of history, of ancestory and timeless lessons...of things that will stand long after man is gone.

Billowed horizons draped across wildflower sheets
==================================
"wildflower sheets"
how cool is that...love the images and the personifi...me thinks its a groovy cloud day.

Muted sunflowers smile atop their swaying retreats
=================================
"Muted sunflowers"

youre just too cool.

Mornings greet lash through crisp curl of embrace
=======================
poetic perfection...
loving the allits and assonance of that line.

Tangers warble ancient lyrics behind a scarlet face
Lending blush where birth of dawn's tempo is strewn

=============================
absolutely stunning...you lit the poem up with color and sound...then warmed it with the dawn's spirit.

Honeysuckle sneezes spray across hummingbird path
Gracing lacquered flight to dance in perfumed tease
Sparrows flicker tempo in floundering puddle of bath
In strobes of warming rays dancing to leaves in breeze

==============================

and that whole verse is poetry in motion...
imagery on high...vocabulary, assonance and cadence done to perfection.
awesome to read aloud.

One last yawn to clear the song of morning eyes delight
Dawn's stretch complete to the greeting of this days call
The eyelids of midnight are drawn closed and sealed tight
Slumbering in dreams ... naive to the canvas paint of fall

=======================================

and then you wrap it up and close it out with the perfect ending.

"The eyelids of midnight" ...
how cool is that analogy.

On reading your newer offerings its apparent you've taken your writing and imagery to another level..and considering how high that was before...me has to ask hows the altitude up there? Impressive write MC. As always you do nature and poetry such a lovely justice.

I would love to live as a river flows, carried by the surprise of its own unfolding.

All I have to say is this ~ one has to have had the heart and soul to open and feel or they could not possibly write it the way you have described.  The gift of really "seeing" nature, is given to so few, and I am glad she touched you inasmuch as you can share it with us.  Beautiful!

JM - The altitude at GROUND level is just fine.  Why don't ya fly down here to check it out? LOL  Thank you dearly for your over kind and generous words.  Your replies alone can make a poet feel good but then knowing you put your heart behind it really means much.  TYFTRTIAOBH!!!!!

Mysteria- I can only relate to what I do see but I am sure I am missing more than I am seeing.  Thank you for the stop by and wonderful words.

LeeJ - Thank you much.  Glad you could see it.
