I was invisible
For all those years
Taking a chance
Howling to the moon

Rear view mirrors
Try to scare me
Their little tongues sticking out
Shark dead eyes, mocking
Like some Halloween demon
But…
Childish days counted sweet
My defeated ears
Still believe in surprise
Despite ripple effects
Which pulled the soul from my arms
I grew 2 more!
Hey, you gotta work with whatcha got!

I am not a painter
But can hold a pen
With each day that goes by
There is no one to blame

Yes, esteem comes real cool
These days...
Fat grins of desire...hunger
For some sound in the wind
Something to believe in?
Or a red dress lover
With desire in it’s hem
Or long winter naps
Or a savior who drives them to church
Everybodies searching for somethin
to believe in? I wonder how many find it?
Standing right before their eyes?

When all is said and done
It’s the heavier rain
That wears brass knuckles
Cultivating memento

Lessening the wheels of guilt
Weathering the pain
Placing coin in my pockets
With fringed corridors anonymous

I take the energetic air
And chose to walk single-handedly
Theres an entire world looking at its watch
And unaided...by my own choice

Not fear, not anger or hate
least of all revenge....
But mature reality in it’s place
Regretting nothing, cept any soul
I've bruised

In all 3 minds of self
Love is here…like a sweet flower
It jumped in and saved me
When I was drowning

Glints of my name stand before me
Smiling and holding out it’s hand
Showing me the money
Which had me at hello!

seems the unseen is the best part of our lives

and the worst

this is usual cool leej
and as usual is unusual
in the layers you display

very much enjoyed it

There is much to savor and ponder in this fine expression.  I agree with Martie.  Ken

Lee:

I have missed your writing, you always write thick and full of imagery.  This actually brought a tear . . .

Regretting nothing, cept any soul
I've bruised

What a beautiful ending.

A wonderful introspection!

Your poems are always a most beautiful surprise.

~ It is profound and thoughtful passages like the ones above that make me such a fan of your writing.
