Dictation of My Heart

A love song…
     Perhaps…
A sonnet…a composition…
What then…What should it be…?
A masterpiece from the heart
     of an amateur…
How might I go about this thing…
My heart, shy and faltering,
does not speak clearly through
my lips…
I must leave this part of me
to my fingers…
Only this time, even they, my tried and true,
     fail to convey
          what my heart dictates…
If my fingers would just stop stuttering…
I would draw a picture of magnificent wonder!
I would paint the skyline in magenta hue!
What manner of love can my hands convey
while my stumbling heart keeps silent my voice…
This vibrant emotion could never be spoken—
could never be uttered with satisfaction…
A poetic genius could not voice
     the colors
          of this love!
But to make it speak through my hands,
can I?
Can I truly spell out the words--
One letter at a time, one color, one moment,
One…one thing at a time to say…
Oh to say!
Simply and completely
With all of me—
Every mortal speck of me…
This love I have explodes for you!
     Was made
          only for you!
This…if only I could say…but I can’t—
Can I?
If only my fingers
would stop stuttering…

Sometimes I just close my eyes and type without knowing what is coming out.

I really like the way you convey your thoughts here.  When you can pull the reader in to the point where they can feel or see what it is you are saying, then you succeed in your write.  This poem does that quite well.  Much enjoyed.

Mark..I know, sometimes I write rather blindfolded too!  That's pretty much what this was...just let the fingers do the speaking!  Thanks for reading!
Coyote..Thank you!
Midnitesun..thanks for the good wishes!
