A Sonnet Whine

I wish that I could write a lovely sonnet,
With words that flowed from out my bald pate bonnet.
I’d sit and think and write good words of rhyming,
And savor syllables to get good timing.
I’d write of love so sweet to win a sweetie.
Who’d take me in her arms without entreaty.
With flowers, poems and words so well endearing,
In fact, I’d kindle up a love quite searing.

It grieves me so to read pip’s other writing
From those who coin their offerings exciting.
The tender poignancy of hearts entwining
Gives pain to me whose only gift is whining.
But labor I within my wretched squalor.
If all you like is rhyming, give a holler.

In Oregon we're quaky
Which makes my writing shaky
'Tis kind of you to call
I really thank you all.

It is, dear Sir, a poetic endeavor
to write of love and of forever
and I know that my meter...stinks...
but still I know just what you think
of those who write and rhyme so pure...
that within blue walls, they will endure...

but it is your pen that writes the wit that is;
and keeps us coming back, exclaiming, gee, whiz!
For I am one who would share your talents,
while remaining, sir, not quite as gallant...
but albeit, what you say is true...
there are so many who dwell in the blue
that all would emulate
such poets, true...
