I live in an ivory tower
With the perfect ocean view
Perched atop a rocky cliff
Facing calm seas of blue

Gulls and terns fly overhead
There's an albatross or two
And the soulful cries of seabirds
Bring memories back of you

Back when we would hunger
For our passion's daily fill
Of love by the seaside
Or in woods behind the mill

Joined in flesh and spirit
Our blood flowed hot and free
Living in our castle high
Where reigned just you and me

We had no need of answers
No questions had we asked
We had no cares or worries
As we lie in sun and basked.

I miss our years together
But change is part of life
I fondly hold my memories
Of having been your wife

Silly Susan, I find this sad. Evolution must be, but when we evolve out of someone, it is sad. 'Course then we may grow into someone and that can be very happy - or just add more confusion. Where's my ivory tower, I want one.
