Though she walked the plains, shoes
sprinkled with dust and tears, she knew.

For what was written within the bound
arose often as a memory of days of who
and what if.

She touched the pages worn, wandering
over countless words written ages ago,
shared beyond the ear’s drum in breathless
voice, as a heart raced toward the ending.

He brought to her the yearn of soul, so
deeply imbedded within rising ribs as
a breast yearned the lie of a warm head.

She touched his hair, white as the snow
covered Rockies...letting fingers graze
the fertile fields that covered a mind
that only she knew.

Would he again one day speak beyond
the ear’s drum, implanting seeds of
rhyme within her hands, as tears lightly
sprinkled the fertile fields?  Would he,
would she?

Only they knew...for this place was their
home of dreams, where all is possible
and going for broke reaps words, endless
words...whispered softly beyond an ear’s
drum....

When I read your words, especially such as these, it is as if I am swept away into the moment - the flow is seemless, the words, timeless.

You slipped the drumbeat into my ears too.
Well done.

The whole poem was simply wonderful but I especially liked the above.
