Empty

Cold white glare of the waiting room
I'm staring at my shaking hands
the ugly tick of the clock in tune
with the beating of my heart
I mumble in a frightened trance
I'm bleeding my tears all over
bleeding my fears, it's over
leaving me empty again

Cold white face in my hands
my blessed one is sleeping
she's far away, floating above her pain
I reach out, beg her to stay with me
I tell her of the beauty
of our newborn daughter
the way her smile lifts up my heart
into a sky where I may find you
upon the edge of oblivion we'll part
but I can't lose you now
you must fight through somehow
I'm bleeding my tears all over
bleeding me dry, over and over
leaving me empty again

Doctors say you'll waste away
but I pray you won't give in so easily
please believe
if you lose this fight
I swear with all my might
I will find you
in this or the next world
or in the eyes of our little girl
her perfect brown eyes
innocently disguising
your blissful essence
and I'm bleeding my tears
over and over
bleeding into one
one father living for her
and you are gone
leaving only this empty shell
leaving me behind
trying to fill this emptyness
and I'm trying...
and I'm trying...

Dear soul drifter, this is extremely moving .... I have tears in my eyes, it touched me deeply.
Your soul speaks the language of love and longing for happiness to last.
A wonderful write.
Love, Margherita

This one made me tear up and sniff.  You bring the scene to life, and I'm there with you.

Oh, hey don't worry 'bout me. This wasn't autobiographical; I'm not a father or anything like that. While alot of what I write has at least a bit of my own experiences in them, this is one exception. Thank you all for the comments.
