Wealth of Hearth

I slid the door open;
let the morning cool
slip in.

allowed
a figment
of being homeless
settle
upon barefeet.

such a
ridiculous ploy
to attempt,

with a coffee pot
a few steps away
to warm
with each sip
sipped in

and
a room of
necessity
a few yards
down the hall

not
a steel,
porcelain
or cracked
ring of wood
unkempt,
disease laden,
upon which
to tempt
fate

silly
to ponder
I could know
in the least
when all I need do
is stand,
grasp the door
and shut out
the cold
unknown,
crawl beneath
a coverlet
and consider
the roof and walls
that shelter

I'm considering naming this "The Simple Wealth of Hearth." What do you think?

Whether on the shoal or on the shore,
I'll seek the lighthouse evermore.

Yes mam,
We can't even imagine! Food for thought...

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.

I like the title as it stands, and loved your poem even more.

We are truly at home in our comfort zones,
and it's hard to fathom
being miles away, and unable to walk through the door.

A wonderful and grateful message,  VAS~

yes, we do need to thank Providence for all that we have and take for granted at times
