I am not made of rock
nor am I  made of stone
I cry tears like any other
   I fear of being alone.

Sands of time beat upon me
some days my heart still bleeds
dripping pain mixed with pure joy
   beating steady, having needs.

I am but a blooming flower
   waiting past a winter freeze
for the sun to warm my petals
   blowing in a summer breeze.

I have weathered storms of life
survived  to see skies of blue
my heart has not turned to ice
it can still give love so true.

It's better than I could have planned..
it's made me who I am...

That was simply lovely, Dear Donna!

~ and may you always weather the storms that come your way in life! ~ and may they be few and far between!

Hugs to you this fine September morning (at least it is a fine morning in my corner of the world!)

Morning Donna...
I know you have weathered many a storm of late dear one.
May your storms be 'steamy' ones from now on.
~Love and hugs, Nancy~

Hiya and Good morning,
Isn't it fun, to go back and look at our earlier poems, and see where we've come to now...like a mini vacation into our past experiences...and one can't help but say, my how we've grown....

Miraculous this life...isn't it...thank you for sharing this beautiful but bittersweet write.

You could never be ice...
not with a spirit as gentle as yours...

a good re-write, little one...

Love this stanza...but it seems you are able to bloom anytime you please, and don't have to wait for a "summer breeze"
The buds of your poetry show that you blossom anytime you write....and like the hellebores ,
are capable of blossoming even in the snow and ice...

Come read to me some poem,
Some simple and heartfelt lay,
That shall soothe this restless feeling
And banish the thoughts of day.
