I make the calm that in-betweens
Long days of heat and freezing,
Scent the air ripe-apple, dot
The world with pumpkin orange,
Gentian blue, and aster purple;
Sound the ear with drones of bees
Mining shells of fallen pears,
fermenting... fall them drunk
On that sweet nectar;
Make warm a mothers hand that rubs
On ruddy cheeks, first frost morning.
*
I bring joy delights and melancholy,
Feelings, rapid changing, when you humans
View my time partition (cleft) between
Warm comfort in your summer days,
And winters icy aggravation...
I ply the mind with spatial thoughts,
Of where that season passed
And where you've gone; the beauteous
Flower paths all fade.. But view,
I paint a pinch of glee on maples
High aloft in flags of orange waves;
And to them soon will grant
A lull, to rest in their gestate...
Before their branches bear another
Infant spring, that grows into another summer.

Ice, this was indeed a very feeling of spiritual write..gleeming with bursts of the sensations of many days to come...autumn in it's finest array, and around here, and up your way, with all the rain we've had, will indeed be like a painting by a Master's Hand....lovely read...thank you

Absolutely exquisite use of language and rhythm throughout...but my favorite line of all:

I paint a pinch of glee on maples

totally enjoyed this read!

Whether on the shoal or on the shore,
I'll seek the lighthouse evermore.

Sigh.

Infant spring, where hast thou gone to?

If I were to touch you, would you bleed a velvet river, running miracles through the sodden ground? --Moi

WOW! I know when I come to read you that automatically at the end, my mouth opens wide and that word will always sneak out!  My lord, but yes you captured the spirit like you were its maker, good on you!

My what warm replies.....

They penetrate my skin and settle in my heart....like seems the sun does,  sunny afternoons in autumn...

Thank you all for reading, smiling at the thought of you doing that...

Reading the comments, my eyes shine.
Thank you for sharing
a bit of your own feelings,
and a portion of your lifes time.

Your poetry does indeed bring a sense of calm,
as do your sensitive and caring replies.

Thank you ford for your honest and heartfelt works of art.

Looking at the trees outside brought your poem
to mind so I came to read again.
Thank-you my friend for such a beautiful poem,
the images it gives.
