(I noticed Larry's beautiful re-post in memory of her, so I decided to follow Larry's lead in remembering a friend Passions will forever be blessed to have in our hearts forever.

For our sweet Lyra...who now truly is a chipmunk that can really fly! God Bless You forever and your whole family and all who remember her!)

The Chipmunk Diaries
By: Noah Eaton
9/19/02

Sweet little chipmunk, up in the acorn tree
Come down and share your endless story
With tears and laughter and compassion
May the world be your sanctuary...

Poetry police used to chase her away
But here she's only grown stronger than ever before
Rising before every Lake Michigan sunset
Finding much inspiration and meanings of life to implore

Stealthily from her dreaming tree she gazes the world
From winter trees to tapestries and flower children and don't forget Herby Curby
She is an adorable hippie chick, truly a woman of the new milennium
She may not fly like a bird but she can sing true poetry

She pours out her loving heart and tears to us all
Speaking of her husbands, son, friends, and all her family with loves light
We all send angel hugs your way to those you have lost
But know they will always love you and guide you with their grace and will never forget you, for now they are butterflies

With an angelic heart she writes with utmost sincerity
We'll always be here kissing your tears and laughing with you everyday
As you make up a huge part of this circle of love
Crooning with the soul of Joan Baez and cooking with Crayola gourmet

For you are Madame Chipmunk, a little gem of God
Reaching out to cheer us all up on gray days as we do the same for you truly
Keep practicing, sweet chipmunk, and maybe you can fly like those birds
And even if you can't, who cares, we love you so much more wholeheartedly!
Because you are God's sweet golden niece...

"You'll find something that's enough to keep you
But if the bright lights don't receive you
You should turn yourself around and come back home" MB20

One of the joys I have is in going back to see if a poem is worthy of reposting...or if it needs some revision...and sometimes, on the really good days, I see a little chipmunks smile and happy wave coming to me.  The words she left behind for us continue to lift, and inspire.  I would urge every new member who never got to know Madame Chipmunk, or Lyra, as we came to know her, to visit the archives, see her poetry, get to know her as the person that we continue to love, and respect.

Noah, thank you.

Noah, a loving remembrance of our dear Lyra.

The day we moved into our new house, we pulled into the driveway and got out of the car and were greeted by a cute little chipmunk. I knew this is where we were supposed to be. Special thanks Lyra!

Missing you lots and my love to Dave.

Noah,
Nicely done. But my post was not a re-post.

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.

Whenever I visit the archives, I have little visits with Lyra ~ her warm and spirited poetry and her loving and kind replies.

She lives on through these blue pages.

On reading your poem, and the one recently written by Larry, new members may be inspired to get to know her as we do by reading her archived words.

Ah, yes! Our wonderful little chippermunk now has wings and flies even higher now!

Love to you both,
Linda
