Crawled onto squeaky vinyl upholstery
the image of a corpulent mustached man
an awe creaped up as his experienced hand
filled my view, he nudged me back into the chair
I who never saw a razor blade so long
had never seen so many bottle types
bright formulae, one for each condition
I was sure he'd have a color just for me
like my doctor knew my favorite lolly...

'I have shaved many young men', he began
thoughts of razors made my heart run
'and I have cut many heads of hair'...
so into the front mirror I curiously stared...
what would be his crafted approach
I'd look like the man with the crewcut of course
he'd apply his shear technique and resource.

I'd watched to see how the others would cut
patches of hair covered their clean aprons
men of experience viewed from my mounted throne
just wanted to return to my hot buttered scone
I was yanked from the breakfast table
to meet this haircut date
slated groomed fate...

There my locks fell one by one
gradually my cover was undone
I'd return to the world as a shaven head
would have stuck to my breakfast instead...

Much enjoyed, Martin!  This reminds me of my little boy's first haircut.  I was the one that had the problem with it, though.   ....jo

Thanks Nancy

Ought to do more of these unfolding narrative types taking from childhood experience or whatever...
