In Your Poetic Mind

0 posted 2004-09-12 04:30 PM

Sometimes I find myself thinking of her
she crawls inside       it feel effortless
as though she has always been there

She   carved shapeless marble
   in soul design yet
built no cathedrals

{I think of her hands,  such
             quiet hands--mostly
        when the sun fades

        how, with faith, I climbed
many heights
lost, alone     silence
became a true friend}

Somewhere upon
       the restless sea

riches of earth passed me by –

I longed for hours of
  quietness when I         would
know true tranquility

sketching thoughts

I have never seen wild daffodils
in a blue vase

my imagination is kind

sketching reason

She stood    between  cradle and bed
her white    gown sparked a candle,
she held   a book of   pages
tied together with wiring
     testimony

Not once:

did I suspect the earth was hollow, lost
as I,   among       fields

or the flame
that held  shadows

I surrender  my fear
to a past I can not discard

2:00 AM
white clouds are
       suspended above the city

I find myself starting to ask:
   {"who carried   you home?"}
to peace

Etched glass of  spirit,
stone         clues  --  divine presence --
every shadow sat  silent  in seduction while
      lavender evenings   danced somewhere

blue will fill  windows
green will calms  fears

      she was tender--  loving

I define her vesper    in silent moments
bringing rain to  her gardens:

Reminding me, I am the echo

standing at the edge of water

weeping for her

{Sketched thoughts -- in Memory of my Mother}

I don’t want the world to see me
cause I don’t think that they’d understand
When everything’s made to be broken I just want you to know who I am

Lauren, that was one of the most beautiful poems that I have ever read. The love of your mother brought out even more of your poetic soul. Words cannot express the depth of my appreciation of your writing. God has blessed you with immeasurable talent.

Your mother is smiling...

Love & Eternal Light,
Linda

P.S. You are not only beautiful on the inside ~ but on the outside as well!

This poem is so beautiful and warm, I would like to crawl inside it and understand what it is to be a REAL poet. Thank you for this..

Lauren,

halfway through I saw her in
a nursery, so soft . . .
like a lullaby . . .

beautiful

My mother died when I was 3, I do not remember her but know how gentle she was and very loving to everyone, (what i was told) and her favorite flowers were daffodils, especially in spring....Thank you for the heartfelt replies, and for letting me share a little of her with you....
