I wrote this on the first anniversary
of the September 11 tragedy

* * *

Such a loss incomprehensible
Feelings simply like no other
Husbands, wives and children
Maybe a sister or a brother

They are never to be forgotten
Those events of that terrible day
The dust took so long to settle
The sun struggled to shine a ray

Blank faces walked the streets
So was the depth of their despair
They were plunged into darkness
So thick with smoke was the air

Many souls had cried out helplessly
But so many were never heard
Mass confusion and hysteria
Most unable to speak a word

The events of September 11
Are etched firmly in our minds
A day of disbelief for many
A holocaust for all mankind

Each day we all now savour
Our world will never be the same
This was not some Hollywood movie
Or a fictitious computer game

We will never fully recover
From the images that we was
Now we all must stand united
As our countries go to war

I reach out my hand of friendship
As we close our eyes and pray
And remember those lives lost
On that dark September day

I am in motion
I am blue
Love is an ocean
I'm anchored in you

Ah Sue, such sadness.  I can still feel the disbelief I felt that day.  But it was inevitable that we, the U.S., some day had to join the rest of the world in its subjection to terrorism.  If only the press did not replay over and over the horror, then perhaps the act might lose some of the impact the terrorists are hoping for.  What good is murder and mayhem if there's no publicity in it?  Can't cause as much fear then - just a thought.

Would that we could all love oneanother and see our common bond, that of humanity.

Happiness isn't something that happens to you, it's created from within you.  Joy is a state of mind.
