It seems but yesterday that I was there,
By your side talking and laughing each day.
The gift of your smile as I stroked your hair.
The games, the walks, all that we once did share.
Long days shopping, here and there, everywhere.
Watching your eyes light up at each display.
It seems but yesterday that I was there,
By your side talking and laughing each day.

It seems as if I were there yesterday,
By your side talking and laughing each night.
The warmth of your body as close we lay.
Your scent of vanilla drifting my way.
Those moments suspended in time will stay.
Watching you sleeping, your pillow hugged tight.
It seems as if I were there yesterday,
By your side talking and laughing each night.

Those moments suspended in time so bright,
Are all I've left to fill my dark, cold stare,
And bring sweet dreams of you for my delight.
To sleep always, is now my one invite.
The emptiness, so very hard to fight.
Though like a prized medal, your love I wear.
Those moments suspended in time so bright,
Are all I've left to fill my dark, cold stare.

My heart aches with this, with the loss and the bittersweet of memories, so precious and dear and yet each reminding of what is no longer there.  A beautiful remembrance.

Lovely. Achingly so. That a word? Thought it was..
Anyway, I loved this one...could hear a pretty melody while I was reading it. Nice job.

A beautifully written heartache, layered within a soft vanilla scent.

I really believe it is these very moments which fill us with the ink we use for our poetry. I truly do. Enjoyed this.
