When thoughts transport you to the past
a facial expression you'd try to make
was all but real or rightly fake
evidence of early experiences don't last

Thoughts in mind, expressions to make
attempted return to an earlier state
accessible comfort of unconscious bate
all but real or rightly fake

In the looking glass to an earlier state
the mystical mirror a grin reflected
childhood moment later rejected
accessed comfort of unconsious bate

genuine moment of a face reflected
visit to the past then later rejected
thoughts transport mind to juvenile past
tender experiences once thought to last.

Awake to world where duty calls
the regressed state quickly falls

Martin,
You sure know how to s-t-r-e-t-c-h my mind!

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.
