He Said Three Words

He said three words and captured me
Who once thought love a fantasy
A dream, a hope, devised by fools
Or simply just a worn out tool

His words they took me by surprise
It’s hard for me to realize
How through these scars, he beauty sees
Or why he wanted, needed, me

He said three words in whispered breaths
And somehow touched my inner depths
How could I answer, mute reply
And still he waited, softly sighed

I’ve used up all my foolish whims
What have I left to offer him
A tattered heart whose lame disguise
Would fool not even blind man’s eyes

He said three words, they fell on ears
That craved that sound for countless years
Betrayed by tongue, with tear filled eyes
I answered back in warm reply

I am nothing special...and my name will soon be forgotten, but I've loved another with all my heart and soul, and to me,this has always been enough.~N.S

Yes!

Susan

Happiness isn't something that happens to you, it's created from within you.  Joy is a state of mind.

It truly was, my dear friend,
all that you could do!

A lovely poem, Ruth....
One that fits all lovers very well.

Thank you for this beauty!

Ruth,  the owl is perched very pretty tonite.

So many thoughts of three words,  I love you,
I miss you,  I desire you,
you are beautiful,  Into infinity....something says
to me that all could have been those words
said.  And more.

True love can heal the most tattered heart.
Filling your soul with warmth and unabaited
love.

This is lovely.  A dream for some of us, reality for blessed others, but lovely none the less.
