The glass gallon jar
Soaked up the sun
And split into broken pieces
The clean-up never ceases
When hot and cold become one.

Storms above us
Hot and cold
Thunderous breakings
Goosebump shakings
Even lightning sucks its thumb!

I’m running hot and cold today
As I think about a friend;
Within me is so much compassion
That a container can’t contain it
But, fact is, compassion is not a hand.

I wish upon my friend
A pat upon a back,
A smile to fill the air
Immersing one in warmth
And the knowledge that I care.

Enchantress,
The luck runs both ways.  My friend helped me through one of the hardest times in my life.  Thank you for your sweet words.  You're wonderful.

This has a beautiful touch - mis'c, of your warmth and friendship.  A lovely gift of support.

How very funny! And as for friends it seems you rank among the best. Excellent write.

I'm sorry I'm so late to this... but then, it does deserve to be at the top! Friends are so important and you are a good one. It's easy to see by reading this! A wonderful poetic endeavor, and a wonderful gift for your friend
Take care!
