An acorn falls from a tall oak tree
and rolls quickly away to the sea
there to float on waves of being free
and taste the essence of peace.

Soon, but not yet, a branch will be missed
and the acorn will think about roots
while longing again for whispered secrets
dispatched into air by fluttering leaves.

An acorn bobs up and down today
but the waves have nothing to say
to make it stay or change its ways
and the little acorn begins to pray.

Soon, but not yet, a heart will sing
though the acorn itself cannot hear
for the sea like a child in a tantrum
throws salt into open wounds.

An acorn alone beneath the sky
bears the wrath of changeable tides
and also the weight of a stubborn mind
that drowns out the needs of a soul.

Soon, but not yet, the acorn will lie
on the sand of some other land
to re-arrange its manner of being
and seek out another oak tree.

Perhaps an acorn by now can say
time and tide gave it reason to pray
and washed it up in spite of the pain
to a land where love has its way.

Soon, but not yet, we as acorns will be
peacefully settled and yet still free
to find a new home albeit only a tree
with roots and secrets for company!

Soon will come at just the right time, I think.  Keep the faith, dear one.  I much enjoyed your metaphor.   ....jo

Haze - Acorns, you know, come in varying shapes and sizes just like shoes which we wear if they fit.  Thanks for the read.

Jo - Thank you again for upliftment.

Froggy - glad you enjoyed.  Thanks.
