Did you feel
the tug of sleeve
this Labour Day?
The soft voice
that whispered
"It's me ... summer,
and I'm fading away."
Did you sense
the need of heart
this weekend long?
The yearn for
sunset beaches
and sandpiper's song.
Did you allow
salty sea tears
on tanned cheeks
caress?
As you sighed
fond farewell
to this
sultry season guest.
Safe journey
holidays of heat
It's time for
autumn to spread
her tie-dyed
leafy sheet.
I've saved some
sand and shells
within a jar
To assure myself
next summer's
waltz
isn't really
that far.

Gosh Chris, aren't we a couple of melancholy ones?
Yes..I too saved a few rocks, feathers and beach treasures...
most of all I saved the memories of a summer that was by far too short, as always.

You know the line from their song is in my head now..
"and the days grow short when you reach September"

Love this Chris and the picture!
~Missing you hugs and love, Teed~

~ Summer can't be over...
I still have the sand in my shoes. ~

God yes, I did . . .
but today was above 90 TG

I adore this Chris:

It's time for
autumn to spread
her tie-dyed
leafy sheet.

I have missed you . . .

Nicely put.  It is just around the corner,
isn't it?  But...something says to me that
we (here) are not quite ready just yet.

Loved the pic,  excellent.

lovely, lovely lovely!! Especially the closing lines, they grasp ever so gently.

Although, I'm rather feeling the tug of autumn pulling me to it, even though it's still several days away. And I feel summer letting go. Of course, it's probably because our days are in the 80's instead of 90's like most years. The morning dipped below 50 today. I love how autumn mornings pull on a robe and clutch it the first part of day.

Whether on the shoal or on the shore,
I'll seek the lighthouse evermore.

Love of a season shown, an embrace and goodbye, and then faith in a return...
Memories kept in a jar....
Very nice....

Come read to me some poem,
Some simple and heartfelt lay,
That shall soothe this restless feeling
And banish the thoughts of day.

Ah Chris, how what a lovely farewell.  Thanks for reminding me it is only for a spell, for I shall surely miss the kiss of summer and shiver at the thought of winter white wonders.
