Between the Lines

I dreamt of her, stopping by,
a thorn in my side,
friendly to a fault and me taking it in.

I can't control them, what my mind
tries to view in reruns
wishing them to be forgotten,
as much of my life can be, so easily.

I can't picture him though.
He is more real to me but becomes a blur
when darkness settles in.

And in the morning
only the empty bottles and cans
on the pavement edge, are proof
that he even exists.

I see his sympathy for others,
for some-times friends who use him,
and wonder why I receive none
after all these years and all I allow.

It is pitiful, the life I lead, the life he leads,
the life she leads...and I just wish
I had never seen her, met her,
so that my dreams can once again be free.

Pain is evident. Regrett is too. Sorrowful poems always make my heart sting in a way that is oddly pleasing. It just hurts me so good. I feel more alive and want to cry, but never do. Only friends can call out my tears with their caring "let it all out"s and everything I held in disintigrates after the tears stop flowing. I hope you can let it all out if you need to.

Brings to mind the girlfriend my ex brought to my graduation party.  Making a long story short...I wish she had been able to keep him, after all...

Where's my doll?

past pain and sorrow and the only regret is I didn't tell her off  from the beginning...
no tears of loss...just needing an end so I can have a new beginning...

It is a rude awakening and harsh reality, when even our best isn't good enough.

Aw Maureen, you write so eloquently, with such real feeling.

Love ya, Lady~

Empty bottles and cans
When bagged are taken by the garbage man,
To recycle somewhere to be reused
Taken away from you so no longer abused,
And can control the waking time
And dreams can again fill your mind

A good write on a bad situation, one I know all to well myself...one most seem to know, sadly....Those pains never go away, but they can be subdued at times, with the help of others....

Very sad. If we all could turn back and change things about our lives, we really would not be living, would we?
