Looking back down the long road I have trod.
Memories long lost do surface in mind.
Knowing I'm still here, by the grace of God.

How many times had death passed by me blind?
Once beieving I lived by luck and skill,
Only to learn, the truth was yet to find.

Thrown into battles and having to kill,
Surely God would have no favor for me.
My fate in life in my hands, not his will.

Then one day as I knew my end would be,
My panic turned to peace and my soul shined,
As the truth flowed through vein, the Lord set me free.

Looking back down the long road I have trod,
Knowing I'm still here, by the grace of God.

Absolutely right, Eric.  We just forget sometimes to say, "thank you".

Eric,
It's true for us all. But acknowledge the truth. Nicely done.

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.

Ah yes, and He loves us - you expressed this moment of truth very well -

Is it me or is poetry much more spiritual than what people think? I'm not saying everyone who writes poetry is connected to God, but it seems most people who do write poetry have a deep spiritual connection to a higher being.
