                    Out of Reach

                    I see you, Mr. Moon,
                    from your hiding place
                    edging
                    foreboding tops
                    of an evening thunderstorm.

                    Across those mountains
                    that I cannot climb,
you fly flags of pale gold,
                    a tint of the lightning
                    that I am too poor
                    to bargain for.

I don't know why, but I love these words~~

Krawdad,
But rich enough to write of! Nice, I like it.

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.

Ah, but you captured the moon with your words-

Superbly illustrated, painfully longing.

Whether on the shoal or on the shore,
I'll seek the lighthouse evermore.

I've always felt the moon to be very mysterious.  Your poem carried its beauty with it, as well as its mystery.  Much enjoyed the imagery.   ....jo

Krawdad,
Out of Reach?  To me, it sounded like you reached for a piece and painted it perfectly.

I've always thought I could reach up
and touch
the harvest moon

so I still try each September
and each September

it remains
just out of reach

maybe next year....
