The hurricane approaches and it's comforting to see
The way folks come together when faced with a tragedy.
Friendship and camraderie, folks sharing what they've got
Are on display for all to see in this great city - NOT!!!!!!

The roads are filled with maniacs! Folks weaving in an out
Shouting, screaming, yelling insults, leaving little doubt
That anyone who tries to drive takes their lives in their hands
While flashing middle fingers in ways we all understand.

Gas stations overflowing...everybody getting gas.
Waiters screaming, shouting "Hey, you moron! Move your ass!!"
Little ladies all confused at how the handle works,
Unsympathetic rednecks acting like pathetic jerks.

People fight at Wal-Mart over batteries and stuff.
Plywood? You could fill the store and still not have enough.
People over ninety fighting for that one last sheet...
Lines that go forever lining up and down the street.

That can of Coke that cost less than a buck just yesterday
Now costs two fifty, maybe more. You want it? Gotta pay.
Price-gouging is now everywhere and makes the tempers flare
Shots ring out and someone dies - nobody seems to care.

They say that Frances is a giant monster with her size.
The turbulence that she creates wreaks havoc in the skies.
Of all the hurricanes we've seen they say that she's the worst.
I hope she gets here soon before we kill each other first!!!!

it's sad that when we should all work together and help each other we do just the opposite. every other time it's easy, but now is when it is needed. I know what you mean about the tension though. my best to you.

Waiting for that storm to blow over is certainly causing its own havoc.  Please, all our Floridians, take care!

'Deer..you put it perfectly....Hugo was that
way in 89...I drove a hundred miles one way to get 25 bags of ice...Luckily, we were
without power only 8 days....some were for
about six weeks...

My prayers are with you,  with all that are
in harm's way.  We will get some of it,  but
probably just a lot of rain and some strong
winds and thunderstorms.....You guys are
gonna catch hell from it.

it's really sad when people act this way...I just don't get it...
like I told Marge, "be safe be safe be safe"
thoughts and prayers are with you and yours that you remain exactly that, safe.

How very, very sad, and tragic this whole thing is becoming for you all down there, and especially those in their golden years, just terrible.  I saw on the news your traffic jams which looks mind blowing.  Be cautious and I know the entire world sends prayers.

Sad, but so true most of the time.
When it comes down to it, most people are not social creatures at all.

In sweet memories of my time down there, my heart is with you dear friend, please be careful and I truly hope all my friends in Florida will come through safely. They need to, because I want to see them all again one day.

I'll keep my fingers crossed

Balladeer~
It is sad, isn't it ?

I gave an older woman my place in line at the gas station on Friday, and danged if she didn't drain the last of the gas in that pump~
Little old broad didn't even say thanks~
Shows to go ya'~

You all be as safe as you can be~
Will be holding you all in prayerful thought~

I love the first verse of this one.  It's droll.  A pity it's reality. Take care, all the Floridians out there.

I don’t want the world to see me
cause I don’t think that they’d understand
When everything’s made to be broken I just want you to know who I am

That's a fact, Toe. The after-effects can be much worse and last much longer. It's bad to lose one's house but when one's place of business is wiped away (and therefore jobs) it's much harder to recover...

Thanks to you all for your well-wishes and, for those who called, you're appreciated.

Right now it's just a nast little bugger, 200 miles offshore. It's moving very slow which is not a good thing and a lot of flooding is expected.

My Sunday morning golf is in jeopary - or not

That madness extends across the Gulf Coast... especially when the "thank God it's not me" path changes and folks are looking into an eye that shows no mercy. *S*

I'm glad you and yours survived... I can just picture you out on that course, hauling away limbs so your golf can resume faster! *S*
