(This also speaks out against the shameful acts at the Democrat National Convention, with the so-called "free speech zone" incarcerating our faithful citizens expressing their peaceful dissent.

This is my fervent protest song to the shameful treatment of protesters at Pier 57, and empathetic, honorable ode to those who have protested their hearts out peacefully.)

Guantanamo on the Hudson

Union Square, five P.M,
this critical mass is comforting,
you're the girandole in the vigil of truth...

One second, there's no time to see,
you've been cordoned off, with your decency,
and all you remember is pulverone,
resonating through you alone...

Peering out the side window,
Westside Highway is dark and subtle,
all the sidewalks suddenly seem so razor-thinned...

No order of dispersal,
bull sessions fill the claustrophia casserole,
breaths between breathing,
seems to be your only security blanket...
.
.
.
Guantanamo on the Hudson,
guantanamo on the Hudson...
.
.
.
Down the street they're mentioning,
they sold a man in black at Sotheby's,
outside his apostles feel their voices,
drop to B flat...

Unemployment lines cross-polinate the Big Apple,
thick as spider web to steel,
but the spiders know a disrupted web,
throws off the fabric of harmony...

Topsy's electric ghost pipes across East 18th Street,
watching as its grandsons sweep,
stomping across this multicultural parade inadvertently...

While we brush our teeth at Pier 57,
with hydrocortisone cream like lesser veterans,
who stand at 14th and Broadway,
with flashlights and flowers,
wishing how else it could have been,
and if there's still a ample time to do so...
.
.
.
Guantanamo on the Hudson,
guantanamo on the Hudson...
.
.
.
Meanwhile Madison Square Garden,
is absent of thermal stability,
each word is a spiking horse,
fusing the next ground burst...

Mouths wide open,
but diaphragms are wide shut,
there's simply no rhyme,
for "we were there"...

we read our rights under our fingernails,
and through our arteriotony,
we all know we wore them with pride...
.
.
.
I take a moment to imagine,
as I leave New York at dusk,
bending over the East River,
once I turn around and look ahead,
all will be redeemed...
.
.
.
Guantanamo on the Hudson,
guantanamo on the Hudson...
.
.
.
Guantanamo on the Hudson,
guantanamo on the Hudson...
.
.

But if the bright lights don't receive you
You should turn yourself around and come back home" MB20

Noah
I did not listen to W's speech last night...
But I did read this this morning, it is of higher political importance then his pompous gassing....It still amazes me how so many people cannot see through his inabilities and weaknesses. You have touched well on grass root problems here, more than just the words are haunting....The ghosts of dead dissidents have risen in these words....perhaps more so, dead patriots...folly and ignorance might prevail without struggle if things are not exposed through poems or songs, though you will not stop it by your effort, you will at least be able to say "I tried...
