Listening to every heart

0 posted 2004-08-27 08:10 PM

There are those who dig deep
uncovering nuggets from earth’s formations
and some finds are those rocks of flint
which the poet hones to its sharpest point

and say, “This, is my poem.”

There are some who skim blue-green depths
only to dive even deeper, finding solace
in salted words unfathomable, just to
pluck an oyster, then find their pearl,

and say, “This, is my poem.”

My own arrow remains pointed skyward,
where the barest wisp of cloud begins, for I
know it will form to thunder and rain, clashing
light with dark, or, perhaps, remain a wisp, and float away,

and I say, “This, is my poem.”

And we are one, and all,
in the hope that someday we may be,
poets.

Karilea - if I whisper, will you listen?  Keeping in mind, I must stand close...

And when words can bring a shiver to my
shoulders and soul...they are the words
of a poet...

Some simple and heartfelt lay,
That shall soothe this restless feeling

One can always rely on your words to show what poetry can be and to inspire improvement in our own.  Well said.  KJ

Yes-yes-yes! Each and all of these....you've captured it. Every one, and the burn, the need to do the deeds no matter what.

You know...
I wrote this one for me...
and didn't know
it would reach out so far.

I am amazed,
and humbled.

Thank you, everyone.
