Step lightly lest you waken
a love of ages past
when dragons roamed
and maidens moaned
behind the castle walls.

Tread gently lest you stir
the quiet repose of heart
and the essence of a soul
so long in restless sleep
down on this earthly plane.

Do not whisper, sigh, or breathe,
do not do anything,
to bring into reality
the remembrances of dreams
and the beauty of a paradise
back into full view.

But chase away the demon
that brings back memories,
sleigh the evil monster
that instills in me a need,
and perhaps to Knighthood
you’ll advance, oh, so speedily.

And when the sword comes down
a head will roll to ground
for in the shadows of my life
the demon and the monster
still stalk my every move.

Men of the land, beware
of a maiden’s tenderness
so fragile and inclined to break
when dragons overthrow
the true intent of soul.

The true intent of soul;
if only we could know,
if only we could see,
and if only, oh, if only
we could hear and understand!

beautiful write, it has classic lines and a wonderful flow.

Here in the midst of my lonely abyss, a single joy I find...your presence in my mind.  Unknown

I believe that's what is meant when they say
follow the heart...to unselfish roads?

Thanks to all for the read.  Yes, soap box is right, LeeJ, just for the experience, you understand.
