I threw my Dad's bronc saddle,
In the back of my old truck.
I shook my Grandad's calloused hand,
And kissed my Mom for luck...

I said, "I'd like to stay and help,
But I've just got to go."
He said, "I guess it's in the blood,
We have to rodeo."

That was  sixteen years ago,
I drove out of the yard.
I guess I've made a living-
But lifes been mighty hard.

A million miles of winding road,
And all of it's been rough.
I guess if I had any sense,
I'd say I'd had enough.

I think I'm good for one more year;
At least I hope that's true.
Cause when I hang it up for good-
What am I gonna do?

Did ya ever ride up north Kansas way?
Perhaps in Strong City, or at Abiline?
Or under the lights down at Pretty Prairie,
Atop Rumford stock, rank bulls fightin' mean?
