You should see my mountain,
There's beauty everywhere
It's down in Alabama
A site beyond compare.

Leaves of many colors
God's beauty extraordinaire,
Nature's glory showing
For all of us to share.

Chameleon's can change color,
Lilacs turn to blue
Fall brings out how nature,
Can change to glorious hues.

There's little that can compare
To what our eyes can see,
It can't be purchased anywhere
That God gives us for free.

Kodak cannot reproduce,
The colors that he'll show ya
Nor a box of simple crayons,
Offered from Crayola.

Colors hallucinogenic,
But no drugs you have to take,
Just look down off my mountain
God's splendor can't be faked.

You've written them well Toe, nothing does compare.  Grew up in Birmingham myself, not quite the mountains, but there was that red one with the statue of Vulcan on it...

I'd seen a news blurb about the renovation, think it's to be completed this year?
Used to camp in your parts.  Them mountains get kinda chilly when the sun goes down...

Never been, this time of year, but remember that spring at McClellan and "hiking" around in the boonies.
Would be nice to visit sometime.

No, they definitely can't be faked.
I've been ridng my bike down to river and taking some pictures there, but when I look at the pictures, no matter how beautiful, they can never even compare with the real picture that God made.
Love this write, Toe, you make me wanna come over to alabama!

When I first seen mountains I stood and cried b/c I thought I would never get the chance to see the beauty they have to offer.
Now I would love to see an ocean and of course more mountains.

Picture perfect...I so miss the changing colors of the seasons from living back east...The prairie has its own beauty but there is much that I miss...Thank you for a vision that I took to heart...

I remember visiting you one fall... and almost driving off the road on the way home in my admiration of the colors! *S* I've never seen the autumn blaze of New England... but your Alabama mountains put on quite a show! *S*

This is as beautiful as your autumn, my friend!!! *S*

You did autumn in Alabama well, and all this time I thought it was one of those hot places all year around.  Gone to get my map - sheesh but I am mad I didn't pay attention to this in school. Is there not some cartoon or western character from Alabama?  I know they go there with banjos on their knees, but did anyone ever leave there?  Now let me see, was not Davie Crockett he was Tennessee right?  I know there was some character from there.  Oh right! It was you!

Say, if you have time for a photo of your autumn there, I know someone might put it up for you?

Lovely poem m'friend.
