Done got me a wife,
she don’t care for me.
Can’t blame her too much
it’s just how she feels.
So
Go on yonder boy,
don’t ya follow me.
Don’t need no shadow
stepping on my heels.

I don’t need no one
walkin down that path.
Don’t know where its goes,
it ain’t  goin back.
No
I ain’t scared of her,
she won’t fade away.
I left her right there
alone in that shack.

Jesus, mercy me,
sinned a time or two,
as tha preacher man
tells me, you can see.
Oh
I’ll keep on moven,
till you strike me down,
‘cause old lady’s ghost;
she don’t frighten me.

I have seen tha sun.
I have seen tha rain
I have seen some things
I just can’t explain.
I”ll
Tell you here and now
she’s a mean ol’hag.
Even when she's dead,
still has to complain.
