I could be a bird today
a wren or mourning dove
be free to roam the skies of blue
to slip and fall in love

or I could dance across a stage
be light in form and style--
pour all the music over me
and let it be my smile.

don ivory shoes and opal pearls
a docker turquoise T,
work on a verse, unroll
all of the poetry in me.

So if you look across the field
or toward the maple tree,
I am the bird, the leaf that’s moving
somewhere o’ver the sea.

Ah, to be a bird today, yes.  Enjoyed this.

This, indeed, dances, and makes me think of that wonderful song, "Somewhere Beyond the Sea". Nicely done. Bob
