I try casting out
these shadows of doubt,
        the ways of old school
        no longer rule.
Try as I might
my words won't take flight.
Adjectives and articles,
conjunctions and participles.....
Years of learning drilled into my head
Proper English, seems to be dead!

         Blue turned black
         my ink is gray
all of the colors
seem to have lost their way.
Maybe, it's just a lack of my muse
that seems to have given me these poetic blues.

The different hues, no longer blend
today my words have come to their end.
Now seems the time to lay down my pen
perhaps, someday, I'll pick it up again.....

It's better than I could have planned..
it's made me who I am...

Sometimes, when the words just refuse to hit the page, I have to wait for the page to turn.

HA!  Just when the muse abuses you
it comes back and amuses you...

Stubborn, those muses...some days they can
be very difficult to deal with...and yet,
"poof"... a masterpiece arrives out of the
blue, no pun intended....

Ya dun good...

I too have those days.  Just recently, where the pen hovered but nothing poured forth.  Then, as Barry says, poof - it just bursts out.  And may I add that your muse of the blues poured forth just fine

Hugs to you   Susan

Happiness isn't something that happens to you, it's created from within you.  Joy is a state of mind.
