From a seed to a tree
and I must believe
time grows a superior soul
but the persona of a mere mortal being
held captive in life’s gilded frame
prays and entreats and wishes to travel
where ere the wind may blow.

But when I step out
there’s rain on my face
and dark are the clouds up above
symbolic of how existing conditions
restrict and confine my need and desire
to advance into true womanhood.

And the shadows follow my every deed
watching and waiting to see
whether growth or a “please pity me”
shoots from a base of deficiency
out into stormy weather.

“Please pity me”, but that’s not for me
for today there’s too much to do
like packing and moving and rearranging
my dreams and perceptions
into the farce
of my reality.

And the wind blows only my soul
over the tumultuous sea!

I could never pity anyone who can write expression from deep within!  Very moving.

Helen I enjoyed this very much, and within the words I see an abundance of hope....

And the wind blows only my soul
over the tumultuous sea!

Wonderful line!

Happiness isn't something that happens to you, it's created from within you.  Joy is a state of mind.

Although I have never seen you, I know, you ARE a beautiful and true woman!

Thank you all so very much for reading and commenting.  And Martie, thank you.  Perhaps I'll send you a pic of the ... old woman who doesn't yet sit in a wicker chair by the sea.
